Trash Culture

Hadn't been posting journal entries for a while so I thought about writing one today to just keep my DeviantArt page updated!
If you are wondering why I had been so fascinated with trash (some even called me the trashy boy).. Recently I'm trying to tackle the theme "trash culture" for my A'level coursework.. So I had been busy taking photographs and drawing pictures of trash and grungy textures to convey the feeling/notion of trash culture.
I feel that trash culture is becoming more and more prevalent in the Asian society. It is so prevalent that many people including me are sucked into it without realizing it. Moreover I believe that trash is a candid reflection of a society's culture. Looking at the trash we produce nowadays is different from looking at the trash people produced 100 years ago. The change in trashes shows our development of technology, our change in taste and preferences and even our culture. Now we are seeing trash all around the world becoming more homogeneous and by drawing trashes like Coke cans and Mcdonald wrappers, I can identify myself instantaneously with almost everyone in the world today.. and this I believe reflects the homogenizing effect of globalization and Americanization.
Trash and textures give people the cold and anonymous feeling as well as a feeling of disgust just like trash culture, yet at the same time, the richness of the textures and the interesting forms of trash appeal to me visually. The irony is that it compels me mentally but interests me visually at the same time. That's the feeling of trash culture. It's a feeling of ambivalence. I see myself drinking Coke everyday and eating fast food now and then. Although I'm growing fat because of it, I still enjoy these products.
I'm still groping for a solution of how to execute the ideas I have.. So for the time-being I'll take more photos and do more drawings!

Happy New Year to every visitor of my page.. No matter where you come from or who you are!
Although insignificant I might be (with only 3700 page views), I would like to thank everyone of you who visits my page, who takes the trouble to just thank me for looking through your page, who tells me how great my gallery is (although I know in reality mine is really nothing compared to your's)!
Today, I just received an awe-strucking news that my friend is going to feature me and my works in one of the pioneering digital art forums in China along with many distinguished digital artists from CAA (China Academy of Art and he is the actually the one who is running the website). I am so honoured! But this time it'll be majoring on my musical compositions instead of my usual art pieces!
I've been waiting so many years for someone to discover my musical accomplishments and today this dream has been finally realised. So in return, I'm doing my small part to promote his website here on my page:
